The 2022 BMW 8 Series comes with two engine types. The first is a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with 523 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. This engine has an EPA-estimated 13 City/21 highway mpg rating and is available in both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD).

Both engines are paired to an eight-speed Steptronic Sport Automatic transmission which delivers smooth shifts even when pushed hard during spirited driving sessions. Handling is excellent thanks to its adaptive suspension system, which helps keep it planted around corners, and active roll stabilization, which helps reduce body roll through fast curves.
