Before you clean the engine, you will need to take the time to prepare it. If there is any debris trapped inside of the engine compartment, then you should remove it before you attempt to clean it. Cover the distributor, wiring and sensors so that they do not get wet. Loosen up the loose grease by running the engine for five to 10 minutes.
Let your engine cool for five minutes and then apply the degreaser. You can use a regular garden hose to wash your engine. If you choose to use a power washer, then you should use it on the lowest setting. The next step is to dry the engine. The engine will naturally dry if you let it sit for a few minutes. You can also get rid of the excess water with a microfiber towel.
